Project Goal

To provide a welcoming and inspiring environment for the one hundred and twenty students in primary grade levels at the Akatim Village School.  We built a seven classroom schoolhouse in conjunction with Ghana Education Services, as well as provided the books and materials that the students need to learn.  Construction was started in Fall 2012 and the school opened in Spring of 2014. Our ongoing mission is to ensure the sustainability of the school by providing supplies, guidance, and support for the students and staff.

Project Impact

By giving these children and the future generations the opportunity to learn at a school that has walls with a full stock of supplies, their potential is endless.  Currently, only 10% of the students at this school pass the country-wide exam required to continue to higher education. We would like to see this number rise dramatically and remind these students that they deserve an education and the chance to dream big because they can accomplish even their greatest dreams if they believe.

Project Progress

As of April 2014, the school opened for its inaugural year. With the help of Ghana Education Services we have been able to establish relationships with the teachers, PTA, and Director of Education in the Berekum District of Ghana in an effort to oversee ongoing progress and ensure the safe and healthy learning environment that the children deserve.
